Imperial/US

Pouce

Définition

Une unité de longueur impériale définie comme exactement 2,54 centimètres ou 1/12 de pied.

Explication

The inch was historically defined as three barleycorns placed end to end. Since 1959, it has been fixed at exactly 2.54 cm by international agreement. Screen sizes (phones, TVs, monitors) are universally measured in diagonal inches: a 15-inch laptop screen measures 38.1 cm diagonally. Tire width and pipe diameter are also typically expressed in inches.
