スケーリング

定義

相対的な関係を保ちながら、一定の係数で測定値を乗除してサイズ、表現、単位を変換する過程。

解説

A 1:50,000 map means every 1 cm on the map represents 50,000 cm (500 m) on the ground. Doubling a recipe scales all ingredient quantities by a factor of 2. In engineering, stress scales with the square of linear dimension — a bridge twice as tall must carry four times the wind load per unit area, which is why small models don’t predict full-scale structural behavior without scaling corrections.
